Default Which game to buy?

Ive been looking into Guild Wars for a good amount of time now, and it is time to buy it. Which one should i start with? I was thinking the original Guild Wars Proficies. I am new to MMORPG, so im guessing i should start with the original?

The main Part is, is do alot of people still play Guild Wars Proficies? is there enough to get a party with and have fun. Is it fairly populated?

Proficies is $35 and Factions is $50. Thats another reason to get the original

So bottom line is, should i get the original Guild Wars since im new to MMORPG's?

Will there still be events for the orignial game?

shure! loads of people still play it and as you can link in Factions and Nightfall so your character can travel accross all three lands, i would definatly say its worth it!

One small comment on Prophecies.
I've seen some posts that the earlier missions are sometimes empty.
Don't let that scare you, once you get somewhat further in the game you will meet others.
I agree with Kitharin that it's worth it.

well this game has tons of different skills and with more expansions the skills they release allow for better builds and handling of different situations. Some of the best skills are in prophecies though especially for the core characters so I would suggest if you make a core character to start off in prophecies. The level cap is at lvl 20 but as you lvl past lvl 20 you gain skill points which can be use to buy more skills so it is possible that one character can have every available skill..It is also fun to experiment with these skills in PvP and PvE because of all the variations you can have..At first it is tough but dont give up took me a month to just break into it..but after you learn the mechanics and form of the game you should be okay...hopefully..

I'd get nightfall. Prophecies is a classic and I still love it. It's always good fun going back there with the new characters I make in factions and nightfall.

Can't go wrong with getting prophecies first though that's for sure. You'll just wish you had nightfall the more you get into the game and if you don't plan on buying all 3 expansions I'd go with nightfall.

To tel the truth I would start with Profecies. The reason it is easier to learn from their because you start out in Pre Searing. Some players may argue that is not true but with the other chapters you are thrown into the fray without learning a lot of things. You can always buy the other chapters later but to realy learn the mechanics of the game you need to start at the begining to learn about the main game.

Yeah get Prophecies. If you have or want to choose between factions and nightfall, then you should definitely get nightfall, factions was a disappointment imo but its still better to have it than not to.

Oh, and Guild Wars is not a MMORPG

PlainSight, as it has been said, you can always add new chapters to your existing account. Nightfall is great, has better graphics and more classes to choose from (tho its overpopulated with Dervishes and Paragons....). You might find it problematic not to have bonuses in armor right away and being forced to buy insignias.... so... if I were you I'd buy 2, Prophecies and Nightfall. If I were to buy only one, I'd buy... Prophecies becuse I know I'd gather more funds for Nightfall anyways ^^ Factions: if you are really bored and done everything else. They are pretty.... and thats basicly it.
